Contact Lenses

Need vision correction but don’t want to wear eyeglasses full time? Contact lenses can be a great alternative.

Whether you choose to wear contact lenses for fashion or for function, our doctors will custom fit you with the proper type of contact lenses for your particular needs.

Types of Contact Lenses

Soft, disposable lenses are the most common. Available in daily-disposable or monthly-disposable lenses, these contacts come in a variety of prescriptions including:

  • Spherical Lenses (for nearsightedness or farsightedness)
  • Toric Lenses (for astigmatism)
  • Multifocal Lenses (for presbyopia, or difficulty focusing up close)
  • Monovision Lenses

In some cases, a doctor may recommend specialty lenses when soft lenses aren’t effective. Specialty lenses include:

  • Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP)
  • Hybrid Lenses (with a hard/RGP center and soft perimeter)
  • Semiscleral Lenses

Bauer & Clausen Optometry carries a wide variety of contact lenses to suit different needs and preferences. We value the opportunity to fill your contact lens prescription directly from our office – ensuring you receive only high-quality lenses. If you are experiencing difficulties with contacts ordered online or purchased elsewhere, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with us. As our patient, your eye health is our priority.

While there are other purchasing options available, for your safety, we strongly recommend obtaining contact lenses from reputable providers.

Contact Lens Safety

Contacts are a popular choice among our patients, offering convenience and comfort for daily activities. They are safe for most people, provided they are worn as prescribed. It’s important to follow the recommended wear schedule, as wearing lenses longer than advised or sleeping in lenses not designed for 24-hour wear can lead to serious issues such as infection, scarring, or even vision loss.

To ensure your eyes remain healthy and to adjust your prescription if your vision changes, all contact lens prescriptions come with an expiration date. We recommend an annual eye exam—or sooner if complications arise—so that we can help you maintain clear, comfortable, and healthy vision for years to come.
